Brimstone butterflies.
Tadpole.A young rabbit, exploring near our yurt. There are so many rabbits here, they startle easily and scuttle away from us through the undergrowth. They also eat our plants, my chives have disappeared and so have some strawberry plants. We need to think about making our raised beds higher!
We've also had to remove the start of another wasp net from the yurt. This time it was inside the wooden box which houses our solar panel battery. We feel awful taking down such a an amazing little home, one the wasp has spent so much time and energy building, but we can't risk having a wasps nest indoors, they are quite a big problem here in the summer time.
The Adder. We see these daily now, the bask in the sunshine by our log pile, Mia Tarka and Willow are fascinated by them and run excitedly to tell ,me each time they spot one.
Sloe Bug.
A Maybug
A Bee Fly. Such an amazingly long probiscus and spindly legs.
The robin nesting in the shower cubicle.
And an enormous spider in the campsite compost toilet.
Isn't it strange, that's the third name I've come across for the same bug. Sloe bug, shield bug and stink bug!
ReplyDeleteLove the robin on the nest too. We've got starlings in above DD's window, and we love listening to the chicks and their excited chirping when the parent bird arrives.
Such an amazing aray of wildlife on your doorstep, such lucky children to live in such an amazing place

An amazing amount of wildlife on your doorstep, personally I wouldn't hang around by the compost toilet, that spider is huge!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd to see the adder again must be a treat.
You really do live in a wonderful place, it is so rich and full of life.
Love to you all

So much wildlife, lovely. I thnk we notice more when we start exploring with the kids at their level. We were in the woods the other day which seem fairly small to me but I bent down to Gaia's height and all of a sudden it seemed like the biggest jungle. There's so much going on so close to the ground that I ordinarily miss.
ReplyDeleteMuch love X
