A long walk.
Today we took a very long walk to the nearest shop, it was a four and half hour round trip, for one rucksack of supplies, but it was a fun walk.
We met some magnificent trees...
and a Vietnamese pot bellied pig.
Tarka took a rare photo of Ash and I together...Ash is usually behind the camera.
Had a rest in a den.
Tarka posed by a tree and said 'Take a picture of me like this Dad'
Willow was getting quite tired on the way back home, and everyone took turns helping her along. She also had frequent rides with Ash in the ring sling.
Ash and Mia discovered a King Alfred's cake, a fungus which can be used to light fires...
So we took one home with us.
Willow found a ladybird, her favourite thing...
and took a detour through a poor farmer's crops...
Helping each other along the last mile or so home...
Cheered on by the sight of a lamb enjoying his mama's milk.
Nearly home now and even Mia needed a little rest to make it.
When we got home, Ash pointed out that it may well be the first time anyone has needed an OS map to walk to the local shops.

ReplyDeleteLove the recent pictures, I'm surprised that mammoth walk didn't kick start your labour!! The belly pic is just gorgeous as is the one where Willow is feeding. Pip still loves her boo feeds and has become quite adept at self service in that department!!
ReplyDeleteConsidering you are both very busy parents of three lively little ones you both look the picture of great health... must be all the fresh air!!
Take good care of yourself

Rowan loves finding King Alfreds cakes, I think he has about 5 in his collection that is hidden with other stones and things inside his special chair!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos as always

It sounds like you had a nice joyful walk, its a shame there isn't a shop a little closer! That pot bellied pig is really lovely, I just want to give it a good scratch behind the ear. My favorite used to be ladybirds too just like Willow! These are wonderful photos, your blog is a real pleasure to read. Is almost like a dream its so lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the lovely comments :)
ReplyDeleteHeather - it is so nice to keep in touch again xxx
San - I was wondering whether labour might begin on the way back! I certainly had some strong braxton hicks tightenings and had to keep resting, but I've never given birth before my due date so would be very, very surprised if this little soul arrived early!
Love Gina xxx
